Mahdi Najafi is a researcher and a practitioner, focusing on the optimization of organizational processes. Graduated in architecture from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), he moved to Barcelona to pursue his further studies at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). He got a Master degree in Advanced Interaction Design and a Postgraduate Diploma in 1:1 scale robotic fabrication (OTF), during which he carried out the design and fabrication of the 1st real scale robotic-fabricated structure in Spain (Fusta Robotica) as well as the 1st smart aquaponics greenhouse (Aquaponic Pavilion), with a group of postgraduate researchers. After working as an intern in Appareilstudio for architecture in Barcelona, he got back to Iran to follow his research and practice.
After serving as the head of research from 2017 to 2019, Mahdi is now the head of development at TUIC.
