ISSUE 24.3 : Ideas for Micro units | Pro Pods
The “Pro-Pods” Project is an educational studio project that took place in 1400 (2021-2022) at the Tehran Urban Innovation Center (TUIC).
Reducing the spatial volume of a house generally decreases its capability to cope with and respond to various conditions. Hence, it seems crucial to contemplate on a “micro-unit” as an accommodation that has the flexibility to advance numerous spatial scenarios and can adapt to the functions, people, and types of equipment in it.
Presume the house, as a domestic platform, that can be vacated from the appliances and furniture and remain as an operational void without any program. In this case, sets of functional dashboards as communal assets with specific usage serve the domestic platform. As a result, the house becomes a label-free platform that takes its identity from the dashboards added to it, based on user demand.
“Pro Pods” micro-unit project seeks to eliminate the predetermined imposed rules on the place and let the parties choose their spatial scenarios subjectively.
