ISSUE 24.2 : Ideas for Micro units | Hyper customized Units

The Hyper Customized Units Project is an educational studio project that took place in 1400 (2021-2022) at the Tehran Urban Innovation Center (TUIC).
In the Iranian context, people with thoroughly distinct lifestyles are living in close proximity to each other. This means their demands are also distinct. However, the units they’re living in, have been designed to fulfill the same needs architects often take into account. But, do these similar units fully satisfy the users’ needs? How can the sense of satisfaction and sense of belonging to the living space be increased? This question has been examined by this project and efforts have been made to address it. Sense of attachment and belonging is directly affected by the quality of the relationship users have with the space. The suggested technique to strengthen this relationship is to personalize the space. Quality of space has significant impact on the dynamics of this relationship. Diversification is the main proposed solution here. More specifically, by creating spaces with different qualities, the project enables users to choose their desirable units and customize their living space freely.
